The celebrations of the International day of the World’s indigenous people has ended with a call for joint efforts to empower women under the renewed plans to preserve the rights of the minority groups in Uganda.
During the celebrations at Verina gardens in Kasese municipality yesterday, Ms Barbara Batweera Mutambi, the Executive officer for Cross Cultural Foundation-Uganda, the organizers of the event, described women as key players in the upbringing and safety of children.
Mrs. Mutambi said protecting the rights and empowering the women has a direct bearing to preserving culture and future of children whom she said spend more time with their mothers. Ms Mutambi speaking……

Ms Angela Kanyere, a Mugabe was concerned about deteriorating cultural values among cultures, poor dressing cords, disrespect for elders, alcoholism especially among women, as well the tangled language of jargons which she said must be dealt with before its late.
The event that attracted lots of representatives from minority cultural groups in the Rwenzori region, including the Banyabindi, Bagabe and Busongora among others. END
