The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party has warned independent political candidates against presenting themselves as NRM-leaning.
According to Hon. James Mbahimba, the NRM District Chairperson for Kasese, his office has distanced itself from independent candidates claiming affiliation with the party.
He stated that the NRM Secretariat has directed that such individuals should not associate themselves with the party while campaigning for the 2026 general elections.
Addressing the press at the NRM party offices in Kasese Municipality yesterday morning, Hon. Mbahimba said the party has only seven candidates contesting for Member of Parliament seats across the district—six for the directly elected MP positions and one for the Woman MP seat.

He urged NRM supporters and the general public to rally behind the official NRM candidates who are actively promoting the party manifesto. END
