As Uganda joined the International women’s day celebrations yesterday, promotion of girl child education should be a matter for joint focus, Ms. Beatrace Katusabe, the Kasese district chief administrative officer has said.
Speaking to Kasese Guide Radio yesterday, Ms. Beatrace said educating a girl child is empowerment and turning her into an asset to her family and the community.
She however said no gender can work in isolation thus, asking for collaborated efforts to promote the interests of the boy children or else, they will turn against the community. Ms Beatrace speaking…….
Ms. Scovia Masika the executive director for KALI, a non-governmental organization headquartered in Kasese Municipality, said the celebrations should be geared to promoting skills, neutralizing early sex and marriages among young girls, as well as promoting education for all. Ms. Scovia speaking………
At Kasese Guide Radio, almost all duties, including gatekeeping and programs between 6am and 7pm yesterday except domestic work, were done by the women.
