Health experts in Kasese district have warned that people sharing same houses with domestic animals risk contracting zoonotic diseases.
Addressing stakeholders during a one-day meeting held at Verina gardens in Kasese town organized by Transcultural Physiological Organization-TPO, Mr. Samson Muhindo Mugisha the Animal husbandry officer for Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council explained that animals harbor harmful germs, bacteria and parasites that can spread to people which he said may cause many different types of illnesses which may result into death.
Mr. Muhindo said animals may look health even when they are carrying germs that can cause sicknesses to people depending on the zoonotic disease citing Ebola, Murbag, Rift valley fever, Rubies, anthrax, Brucellosis among others as some of the diseases that easily spread from animals to human beings.
