The Member of Parliament for Busongora South Constituency in Kasese district Hon. Mujungu Gideon Thembo has been released from Katojo government prison by Fort-Portal High court after paying partial bills of the Debt, Kasese guide radio has leant.
Hon. Mujungu was send to Katojo prison on 5th Dec,2023 by the Deputy High Court Registrar, His Worship Francis Matunga Dawa over failure to pay costs arising from an electoral Petition accruing from the 2021 general elections that forced a by-election.
Other Pending Bills arise from an application that sought a High Court judgment review as prayed by Hon. Mujungu who applied to overturn the Bills of costs, but lost.
Speaking to Our Reporter at Rwenzori International hotel, the former Member of Parliament for Busongora County South and petitioner, Hon. Jackson Mbaju Kathika said Hon. Mujungu was released after making part payment of Sixty million shillings to him and an additional twenty five million shillings to the Court Bailiff on grounds that the MP for Busongora County North, Hon. Sowedi Kitanywa among others agreed to stand as surety of the Legislator. Hon. Kathika speaking……
Hon. Sowedi who called for joint efforts to save Hon. Mujungu, agreed being a surety to Hon. Mujungu, prayed for the freedom of the legislator for the good of Busongora County South he said had been let down on service delivery over the inconsistence of their lawmaker.
