The Member of Parliament for Busongora south constituency in Kasese district, Hon.Gideon Thembo Mujungu has urged local leaders to encourage tree-planting as a strategy to fight household poverty and conserve the environment.
Addressing the press at Uhuru 50 gardens this afternoon, Hon.Mujungu asked leaders, environmental officers, and Agricultural officers from all over the district, to share experiences and challenges of promoting agro-Forestry and tree growing in Kasese.
The legislator who grieved with families that lost their dear ones in Kasika village, Rukoki sub-county yesterday after disaster occurancies, asked the community to grow trees on the bare hills to combat climate change. Hon.Mujungu on disaster….
He observed that while the government was engaged in several plans of eradicating poverty, more effort was needed in promoting tree planting.
Mujungu pledged to lobby government and partners in development to provide tree seedlings to people in Busongora south constituency and Kasese at large. END.
