The State Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Hon. Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga, has revealed that surveying the disputed pieces of land is the only lasting solution to land conflicts in Kasese District.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting held yesterday at Kasese Multipurpose Hall which was also attended by the State Minister of Lands, Hon. Sam Mayanja Hon. Kabyanga noted that many lives and properties have been lost due to these ongoing disputes.
He reaffirmed the government’s plan to survey the contested land and demarcate clear boundaries to prevent further regrettable incidents.

Speaking to our reporter shortly after the meeting, Mr. Fred Tumusiime, a representative of cattle keepers, agreed with Hon. Kabyanga’s remarks.
He emphasized that surveying the land would help reduce friction between pastoralists and cultivators.
Hon. Sam Mayanja urged those encamped at the RDC’s office to return to their homes, assuring them that the government is addressing their concerns. He pledged that solutions would be provided within a three-month timeframe. Hon. Mayanja speaking….
The Minister also left a team of surveyors that are commencing work on the disputed Nkoko land in Kitswamba sub-county, with Guidance of the RDC this morning. END.
