The ICT and National guidance State Minister, Hon. Godfrey Kabbyanga has compared the Katuna on Uganda-Rwanda boarder to that of the Mpondwe border post in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council in Kasese district, describing His yesterday`s opening as a total boost to border business and livelihoods.

In an interview with Kasese guide radio this morning, Hon. Kabyanga said that just like the Bakonzo-Bayira ratios on both the Uganda and DR Congo sides, so are the Bafumbira-Byanya Rwanda along the Katuna-Gatuna border that suffer when the border closes.

He was optimistic that the border opening will not only boost trade but also cement the relationship between Uganda and Rwanda, as well as the crosscutting border families. Hon. Kabyanga speaking1………

Hon. Kabyanga said that more diplomatic talks were on to see total opening of cross border business now that so far only the trucks commuting to Uganda from Rwanda have begun business.

    Hon. Kabyanga speaking2……….

The move to open the Katuna border follows a one day official visit to President Paul Kagame of Rwanda by the Ugandan Commander of the Land Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. END.
