Kasese District remains in uncertainty following contradicting statements by the top political leaders in the district over the construction of the Kikorongo-Mpondwe highway.
Earlier on Friday last week, Mr. Erifaz Muhindi, the Kasese district chairman told Kasese Guide Radio’s popular Thukayahi program that he was aware that DOT services had been contracted for the road construction works on the Kikorongo-Mpondwe stretch and that he was closely in touch with the ministry of works over the development that will also see the Kiburara-Kisinga road worked on among others.

Addressing mourners during the requiem service of Mzee Firipo Kambere Kyabikere in Kithoma- Kanyatsi Town Council in Kasese district on Saturday, Mr. Hassan Baluku, the representative of Hon. Godfrey Katusabe Atkins, the Bukonzo County West Member of Parliament confirmed that whereas there has been delays in the construction works of the road, DOT services working on the Lhubiriha-Beni-Buthembo road in the DR Congo, had been contracted for the work.

During his turn to address the mourners, Hon. Godfrey Kabbyanga, the State Minister for National Guidance clarified that no contractor yet for works on the Kikorongo-Mpondwe highway but that President Museveni had already directed the Ministry of works to get funds from a Chinese bank for the works.
Hon. Kabbyanga who sits in cabinet every Monday later clarified more that the Ministry responsible for road works was already working closely with the said bank for funds before a contactor can be sourced for soon. Hon. Kabbyanga speaking……..
He called for calm saying the road will soon be worked upon. END
