The Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Jacob Oboth Oboth, has stepped in to stop Tororo local governments from soliciting funds from sub-counties to finance a farewell party for the outgoing District Resident Commissioner.
Hon. Oboth Oboth who commended the outgoing RDC, Nixon Owole, as the best in Tororo’s history, cited the already strained revenues of the lower administrative units as a key reason for his intervention.
The Minister who confirmed that he would personally fund the event, said his move was to spare the sub-counties from any financial burden.
Minister Oboth commended the outgoing RDC, Nixon Owole who has been transferred to Koboko in West Nile, as the best in Tororo’s history. Previously, Tororo District Chairperson John Okea had instructed each sub-county to contribute 100,000 Ugandan Shillings towards the farewell event. END
