Hon. Kasuki Bwambale, Speaker for Nyakiyumbu Sub-county in Kasese District, has applauded the Kasese District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Florence Kabugho, for her dedicated efforts in lobbying for the construction of a low-cost sealing road connecting Katholhu to Kayanzi.
The Government of Uganda has allocated 8.4 billion shillings this financial year for the ongoing construction of this peninsular road.
The project aims to enhance connectivity and boost bilateral trade among East African Community (EAC) member states.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting held this week at Kayanzi Beach and attended by Hon. Florence Kabugho, Hon. Kasuki highlighted that her recent appointment to the Parliamentary Committee on Government Assurances and Implementation of Presidential Pledges, as well as the Agriculture Committee, played a critical role in advancing the project. During the meeting, the legislator further pledged to establish a carpentry workshop at Kayanzi landing site, pay rental costs for the skilling centre and contribute half the cost of sewing machines for tailoring students, among other initiatives. END.
