Hon. Ferigo Kambale, the Kasese Municipal legislator has called for a special audit into the funds sent by the government of Uganda and her development partners to deal with the Nyamwamba seasonal flooding challenges in Kasese district.
Addressing the inception stakeholders’ meeting on design consultancy services for river Nyamwamba maintance and flood protection works held at Rwenzori International Hotel in Kasese Municipality today, Hon. Ferigo calls for an audit into the 48 billion shillings that includes, 17 billion donated by the Egyptian government in 2018, more 17 billion shillings by World Bank in partnership with the government of Uganda to Ambitious Contactors limited to desilt 5.4 kilometers of the critical areas of the river valley.
Hon. Ferigo who said another 14. 4 billion shillings had been disbursed to plant trees to stabilize the river banks by World Wide Fund for Nature and government, said the money isn’t reflected by the work on ground, leaving the river a total risk. Hon. Ferigo speaking….

Responding to the concerns, Eng. Stephen Ogwete, the contract manager for river Nyamwamba works from the ministry of Water and Environment said government is committed to permanently deal with the rivers’ challenges in the region by installing early warning units and periodic maintenance.
