Hon. Centenary Robert, the former Member of Parliament for Kasese Municipality blames World Bank for using their financial muscle to enslave Uganda, a developing country into their controversial gay rights promotion.
His comments follow an announcement by the US-based global lender that it was suspending new loans to Uganda over what is considered among the world’s harshest laws targeting LGBTQ communities.
Speaking to Kasese Guide Radio in Kasese town over the weekend, Hon. Centenary who supports President Museveni’s position to work by his country’s motto, ‘For God and my Country’’ as well as protecting the African core values, said Uganda was able to do without the six trillion shillings as US budgetary support to Uganda should the country deal with corruption that accounts for about nine trillion shillings each financial year.
Hon. Centenary who said the world was watching if Uganda was to dance to the US beat over aid cuts, was quick to reveal that Uganda would rather advocate for other funding sources than exchanging her dignity for money. Hon. Centenary speaking……
He called upon on the Kasese people against what he called wasteful expenditure now that the decision by the US and World Bank will affect the whole of Uganda, including infrastructural development, some of which have US funding. Hon. Centenary speaking2…….
Last week, Mr. Museveni said Uganda will develop with or without loans, adding that it is therefore unfortunate that the World Bank like their influencer coerce his country with money against her faith, culture, principles and sovereignty. END
