Local leaders of Kibiri village, Kibiri parish, Muhokya sub-county in Kasese district are concerned about the increasing cases of drug abuse that have hiked criminality in the area.
Whereas many local leaders and residents attribute the vise to the high levels of unemployment and idleness, Mr. Doviko Basemire, the area secretary for information largely blames the trend to poor parenting that has resulted into irreligious, lazy and uneducated children who have no focus for the future.
Mr. Basemire who calls for joint efforts against drugs and alcoholism in the area, believes that about ten thousand shillings spent by a drug abuser each day was enough to start a local business that could change his life for a better future. Mr. Basemire speaking……..
Mr. Asanairi Mugusu, the Muhokya subcounty local council three chairperson was later concerned that the high levels of alcoholism during Xmas day celebrations by mainly the teens, were clear indicators of no viable leaders in the area in future if no measures to reverse the trend, are put in place.
