Farmers in Kyalhumba sub-county in Kasese district are counting losses following a heavy down pour yesterday that ravaged several acres of crop gardens.
The worst affected crops are beans, cassava, maize and Banana plantations in Kalonge and Buthale parishes.
The area Local Council three Chairperson Mr. Jackson Maghuruka, expressed fear that with crops destroyed there is looming hunger for the people in Kyalhumba sub-county, arguing that the affected parishes are the food basket for the sub-county and neighboring areas.
Mr. Maghuruka speaking……
He appealed to the district leadership and civil society organizations to provide humatarian aid to the affected farmers. Maghuruka also decried the bad state of roads in his elective area that require urgent intervention by Kasese District Local Government. END.
