Mr. Jerome Kahyana, the Kasese district sports officer plans to take disciplinary action against primary schools especially the private institutions of learning that have repeatedly dodged co-curricular competitions.
Speaking to our reporter at Kisinga playground in Kisinga town council in Kasese district shortly after the district primary school kids’ Athletics and Special Needs Education activities over the weekend, Mr. Kahyana who threatened tougher punishments head teachers, noted that whereas the learners in private schools pay for co-curricular activities that government has prioritized as well, some of their institutions do not participate. Earlier, the Kasese district sports association chairperson who also double as the head teacher Kisolholho primary school, Mr. William Musereru, announced this year’s national primary sports competitions in Kabale district on 5th May up 14th May, before reminding parents that co-curriculum activities were currently considered as part of the subjects to back academics.
