Tourism developers in Kasese district have asked Government to expedite plans to replace the Equator monument near Kikorongo trading in Lake Katwe subcounty for tourism promotion.
The former Equator monument in Kikorongo on the Kasese Mbarara Equator road was demolished about three year ago under too many queries from the public and tourism promoters until government clarified the move was aimed at re constructing the main altitude into a more tourist attractive structure.
The Chairperson for Kasese Tourism Association, Mr. Godfrey Dembe Kasozi said for the re construction to take long was an act that has partly frustrated tourism and that government ought to be swift to replace the monument. Mr. Godfrey Dembe adds……..
In the recent time shortly after the visit to Kasese in 2019 by the National coordinator for Operation Wealth Creation, Gen. Saleh, tourism promoters under their umbrella organization “the Kasese tourism investors Forum” have doubled their efforts to turn the district into a more tourism destination, looking at attractive nature Kasese is blessed with.
