The Minister for Security Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi has said that the government will soon launch a special operation to curb livestock theft in the central cattle corridor.
Gen. Muhwezi made the remarks during this year’s national heroes day celebrations at Kololo ceremonial grounds as he responded to concerns that were raised by representatives of the veterans led by the National Chairperson of Luwero bush war veterans, Hajji Edirisa Ssedunga.
Hajji Ssedunga noted that the rampant theft is not only causing insecurity in the area but also leaving many farmers in poverty.
Gen. Muhwezi noted that his office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been receiving information about repeated incidents of livesock theft and that security agencies are now in advanced stages of taking measures to ensure that the vice is curbed. Gen. Muhwezi speaking…..
In his speech read by Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja, President Museveni equated the heroism and courage of the nine NRM supporters who were killed at Kikandwa to that of the Uganda Martyrs.
Mr. Museveni noted that despite threats of death, they declined to reveal the hideout of the NRA guerrilla unit.
