Meanwhile, Farmers in St. Peters Mini-Irrigation scheme in Nyamwamba Division, Kasese Municipality are accusing government for her failure to supply them with seedlings.
This follows the government pledge to distribute seedlings to farmers along River Nyamwamba whose crop gardens were swept away by devastating floods from River Nyamwamba in May this year.
In an exclusive interview with our reporter this Afternoon, Mathius Makumbi the chairperson for the farmers in the said Mini-scheme told our reporter that after the loss of their crops, they were asked not only to register but also assuring them of the seedlings supply for re-planting but in vain. Ms Joy Asiimwe a former English teacher at St. Thereza Girls Nsenyi and Kuruhe high schools told our reporter that after her retirement she opted for farming in the same scheme but she is dissatisfied by the everyday registration of farmers by the government officials but in the end receive nothing. However, yesterday the Kasese Municipality Agricultural Assistant Mr. Asanairi Bukanywa had reported little seedlings of about one tone which was received from government and later supplied to few farmers something he said forced others to wait for the next turn. ENDS
