Mr. Saulo Matte, the former Kasese Forum for Democratic Change chairperson, has described as a waste of resources the expenditures on the annual Heroes Day celebrations in Uganda.
Every 9th of June, Uganda celebrates the brave souls who fought for Uganda’s freedom, defended the country’s dignity and shaped Uganda’s future; from warriors to leaders, activists, Artists to everyday change maker whose sacrifices inspire Ugandans to build a better nation.
Addressing the media at Verina Gardens in Kasese Municipality this afternoon, Mr. Saulo alleged that today’s celebrations serve the interests of few individuals and that the time and resources spent on such events would have instead fund some essential services like health care, orphanage centers, improve teachers’ salaries and the works on almost the impassable roads in Uganda among others. He later used the press conference to pray that the land minister comes to Kasese this week to deal with the land conflicts whose delayed solutions have resulted into a temporary but life risking camp of disgruntled cultivators at the Kasese RDC’s office. END
