Government had contracted consultants to make sedimentary analysis of Nyamwamba river valley for a lasting solution against seasonal devastating floods, Kasese guide radio has learnt.
Mr. Brian Emmanuel Guma, a consultant hydrogeologist and team leader of Albert water management zone at the ministry of water and environment told a meeting of Sacco members of Bulembia, Kilembe and Mbunga sub-counties at Bulembia division headquarters yesterday that government had committed 40 billion shillings to deal with the flood challenge.
Mr. Guma who said the works would cover the whole Nyamwamba valley base indicated that the funds from World Bank and the government of Uganda would among others desilt, restore water catchment, rehabilitate Kilembe Mines hospital and some schools along the same stubborn river. Mr. Guma speaking……..
Mr. Guma also urged to the residents along the river to be conscious of their activities but also invest in tourism for a living.
Ms Catherine Mbahimba Mbambu, the Principal Assistant Secretary in the office of the Kasese district Chief Administrative officer called for massive formation of groups, the only channel through which government and her development partners fund development projects established by Ugandans.
