Kihyo primary school, a government aided institution in Buhuhira subcounty in Kasese district with about six hundred learners, operates in only two reliable classroom blocks.
According to records, the school was established in 1965 by the Catholic Church before being taken up for funding by government in 1983.
In his speech during a fundraising function aimed at building staff quarters at the school, Mr. Leonard Monday, the head teacher said the six classrooms that were built by the Diocese of Kasese more than two decades ago, had developed cracks that pause a risk to the learners, thus calling for the immediate intervention by Kasese district local government and the community. Mr. Hudson Musali, the area local council three chairperson who called for joint efforts by the founding body, the community and parents for the infrastructural development at the school, revealed that they had already written to the Ministry of Education about the challenges there.

Responding to the concern, Mr. Eriphaz Muhindi, the Kasese district local council five chairperson said he had submitted to the Ministry of Education and Sports a list of schools in dire need, including Kihyo and Kathembo primary schools. Mr. Muhindi speaking……
