The National Resistance Movement party presidential candidate, Mr. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, says that his next government will prioritize the promotion of fish farming as part of efforts to create wealth and improve household incomes.
Speaking to thousands of supporters during a joint campaign rally for Gulu City and Gulu District held at Kaunda Parade Grounds in Gulu City yesterday, Mr. Museveni described fish farming as a high-value agricultural venture under the four-acre model, capable of transforming the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. According to Mr. Museveni who is expected to be in Kitgum district today, fish farming should complement other enterprises under the four-acre model he first proposed in 1996, such as fruit farming, dairy, poultry, and piggery.
