An 80-year-old woman, Ms. Rukia Kyakimwa, a local resident of Kiburara village in Kisinga subcounty in Kasese district is concerned about the slow but steady attack on the African culture by the West.
Speaking to our reporter in Kasese town over the weekend, Ms. Kyakimwa who was concerned about the hired aunts for giveaway ceremonies in Uganda and particularly in Kasese district, wondered why a family should hire institutions to take charge of the bodies of their fallen relatives than their family members.
She also said she was stressed by what she called the ‘mafu-mafu’ women of age whose dressing code has not only been eroded by the western culture but stresses as well. Ms. Kyakimwa speaking…….
Kyakimwa later called for round fire meetings that reclaimed ancestral gestures. END
