The National Security committee would soon convene over the possibility of opening the Uganda-DR Congo border in Kasese district, the Committee chairperson, Gen. Kahinda Otafire has announced.
Addressing different stakeholders at Mpondwe primary school in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council in Kasese district, Gen. Otafire who doubles as the Minister of Internal Affairs said he would convene this week members of the Security committee to analyze reasons for the border closure before a decision is taken.
Gen. Otafire who was responding to trade concerns by a selected business man in Bwera, Mr. MachoziSulaiman added that time was ripe for the security committee to attend to challenges affecting border safety for boosted cross border business.Hon. Otafire Speaking…….
To Mr. SulaimanMachozi, the Uganda-DR Congo border in Kasese unlike elsewhere in the country was still closed over what he described as security propaganda that came in after the successful fight of Ugandans against COVID-19 despite some challenges.
