Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, Minister of State for Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, has urged residents across the Rwenzori region to become peace ambassadors as a way of safeguarding the gains achieved under the current government.
While addressing the NRM Conference for Busongora CountyatHima town Council headquarterslast week, Gen. Mbadi described peace as a shared responsibility among all Ugandans.
He encouraged the local community to cooperate with security agencies and to provide timely information about any suspected threats to peace and security.
Gen. Mbadi noted that conflicts not only cause physical and psychological harm but also lead to low productivity and destruction of property.

He commended the people of Kasesefor their collaboration during the recent attacks on police installations Kaseseand Rugendabara, during which panga-wielding assailants were neutralized and others arrested similar to incidents that occurred in Fort Portaland Bundibugyo.
He called for mindset change among the community when it comes to issues of security, reaffirming the government position to deal with anybody trying to destabilize peace in Uganda. Gen. Mbadi two speaking.
Gen. Mbadi also encouraged community members to vote for NRM flag bearers in the 2026 general elections to help protect and strengthen the achievements made so far. END
