The gang masters who caused tension among the local residents of Kinone in Kitholhu sub county in Kasese district, are not rebels but perpetual thieves in the area.
There was reported tension among the local residents of the area last night over suspected thieves perceived to be rebels.
Mr. Emmanuel Maliba, the Local council three chairperson for Kitholhu subcounty says the reported tension was caused by a young girl who escaped from the attackers and made a sharp alarm over the reported machete armed people, causing suspicion of a likely rebel attack.
Mr. Maliba however said preliminary reports had indicated that Nya-Meresi`s home was attacked by three men who are perpetual thieves and residents of the same area.
He says the suspects who are being investigated, demanded for cash or harm the victims before vanishing with cassava flour, passion fruits and six thousand shillings. Mr. Maliba speaking…….
Esther Kabugho, a survivor and whose sharp alarm for help about the attack alerted the village, said they had just had supper when three energetic men entered their house at around 8.30pm, demanding for three million or die.
She said her escape was facilitated by an opening in the next house they transferred them to, forcing her in the bushes as she made the alarm that alerted the whole community. Ms. Esther speaking…… Â
Mr. Philemon Kahangiro, the local council one chairperson for Kinoni village described the suspects as attackers only targeting soft targets for valuables.
