Lt. Joe Walunsimbi, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner has warned community members against what he called absentee parenting that forces many family heads to transfer blame than facing their family challenges.
He was concerned that whereas children need the presence of their parents, the later find it easier to send the former to their relatives and blame teachers for not doing enough to excel in academics.
Addressing stakeholders, most of them learners during the district celebrations of the Day of the African Child at Kasese multipurpose hall yesterday, Lt. Walunsimbi who called for discipline and the fear of God among children, warned parents against transferring their roles to teachers whom he said their responsibilities are well stipulated under their professional guidelines.
