The body of the late Rev. Fr. John Birungi Kithendere, the first priest to be ordained in the Diocese of Kasese, has been laid to rest at Kasanga Catholic Parish, with a call on Christian to engage in farming as a way to fight poverty.
Speaking to the mourners shortly after presiding over the requiem mass, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kasese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira, described the late Rev. Fr. Kithendere as a committed servant of God.
He urged Christians to take part in both cash and food crop farming to enable them to pay school fees for their children and ensure food security, in line with a recent sensitization message by Dr. Chrispus Kiyonga.
