Mubuku town council has tasked the Kasese district Public Accounts Committee to give a thorough audit report regarding the expenditure of over fifty million shillings’ startup grant that is reported to have been mismanaged by their former town Clerk, Mr. Robert Bithekere.
Hon. Hamadi Mutaseka, the Male councilor representing the elderly and Hon. Julius Muramira of people living with disabilities said apart from the 13 million shillings, part of which procured office chairs, the district need to come of ground for a fact finding mission than making conclusions on what they call fabricated expenditures about monies of the town council that is currently holding business under a tree. Hon. Elijah Okech, the Kasese district councilor representing Mubuku town council expressed disappointment during town council business today that whereas they had pushed for the refund of the said misappropriated monies, Hon. Ham Natuhwera, the Kasese District Vice Chairman and district councilor representing Nyakatonzi subcounty told the district council on Monday that Mr. Bitekere, the former town clerk, refunded twenty six of the 50 million shillings which Hon. Speaking to Kasese Guide Radio shortly after council siting, Hon. Charles Businge, the Speaker who said he was being troubled by having council business under a tree, confirmed bank statements had reflected a refund of about thirteen million shillings from their former town clerk.
