An eleven-member committee constituted to review the activities and occupation of the forest reserve land in Kanyampara, Kisinga sub county in Kasese district, has only two weeks to hand in a report, Kasese Guide Radio has learnt.
Addressing a community meeting at the forest reserve on Tuesday, Mr. Mustafa Kikusa, the Principal Administrator in the office of the Kasese Chief Administrative Officer said the committee comprising the area local council one housing the forest, the local council three chairperson, the CDO, GISO and Ms Elizabeth Malikidogo, a local farmer among others members, would guide on the boundaries, the encroachers and the official tenants. Mr. Kikusa speaking1……..
Mr. Kikusa who later halted any activity in the forest for the meantime, ordered the OC police in the area to arrest anybody seen on the forest land until asked otherwise. Mr. Kikusa speaking2…….
To most tenants on the forest land, the intervention by the Chief Administrative Officer was a relief from one Mr. Jackson Ngasu, a former forest ranger who had allegedly turned the property almost personal. Farmer speaking……
In his alleged hiding, Mr. Ngasu denies any wrong doing, claiming he was on the piece of land like any other tenant. END.
