Floods have hit Kasese district after three major rivers burst their banks.
The rivers are Nyamwamba in Kasese town, Mubuku in Ibanda-Kyanya town council and River Nyamughasana in Kyalhumba sub County.
The floods follow a heavy downpour that pounded the district on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The entire Nyamwamba valley hosting the areas of Road Barrier, Nganji, Base camp, Kibenge, Kisagazi, Nyakasanga and Saluti A and B, is experiencing the flooding heavily.
Kyanzuki Bridge on River Nyamwamba has also been swept away.
Properties including crops and houses have reportedly been destroyed by Nyamwamba River, leaving residents homeless.
Mr. Saidi Kisuki, the Chairperson LC 3 Central division by press time said he had reported to the Minister of Disaster and preparedness about the magnitude of the disaster.

Mr. Nason Ndathu Isabahasa and others who talked to Kasese guide radio this morning after seeking refuge at Kasese Shell petro station said most of their house properties had been destroyed by the devasted floods.

Earlier, the Kasese Municipal Physical Planner, Mr. Alfred Baluku said the technical team was still making an assessment about the disaster, asking residents to become vigilant.
