Police in Nyakiyumbu subcounty in Kasese district is investigating circumstances under which a five year old minor was reportedly tortured in Kyaminyawandi village.
No official comment yet from police but the area local council three chairperson, Mr. Peter Sunday Kakule said the victim, a son to one Thamuzala Ngonzaki, was reportedly tied up for months in a vanilla garden by her step mother under the disguise of guarding the crop against thieves.
After a tip off by concerned whistle blower according to Mr. Sunday Kakule, the victim whose father is in hiding, was rescued yesterday by Mr. David Thembo Kyeghekire, a community volunteer with Justice Centers-Uganda.
Mr. Sunday Kakule said the child who looked malnourished with bruises and swollen legs and hands reported that he had passed through torture, including sleeping hungry. Mr. Sunday Kakule speaking…..
Mr. Thembo said he together with the area local council one chair picked the victim after a tip off before reporting to police and taking him to Bwera hospital for further management of his situation.
