Five new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed last night by the Uganda Virus Research Institute, bringing the number of confirmed cases in the country to 121.
The new cases include two Ugandan truck drivers who arrived from the Elegu border post and three Kenyan drivers who entered through Malaba border post.
The cases were part of 1,498 samples that were tested, bringing the number of infected drivers to 60 by last night.
The health ministry that had indicated challenges on how fast the test results of drivers could be released will however this week establish new testing centres at Mutukula and Malaba borders, according to Mr. Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the Ministry of Health spokesperson. END
