Bwera Division Police in Kasese District is holding five people on allegation of stealing electric materials in the area.
Kilembe investment Limited, a rural power distributor in Sub-Rwenzori region has repeatedly called for joint efforts against vandalism on their lines that has increased their operation costs.
As Guide Radio waits for a police statement, the Ihandiro sub-county Chairperson, Mr. Abel Liminya Bwambale confirmed the information and identified the suspects as, Arafat, Ahamidi and Abudu among others, all residents of Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town Council.
Mr. Liminya who said most electric vandalizers impersonate power line repairers, said the suspects were arrested in Kihoko two leadership and local residents this morning as they put together electric cables for transportations. Mr. Abel speaking……
Ms. Jane Masika Birungi, the Kilembe Investment Limited Chief Executive officer appreciated the vigilance by area security, the local community and leaders against the suspects she says have always impersonated their staff.
Ms Jane who said their staff are always identified by their attire, IDs and name tags, warned that government had slapped a fine to anybody involved in illegal connections that have always been equipped and fueled by power vandalizes. Ms Jane speaking…….
