The Ferry at Kazinga Chanel in Katunguru landing site temporary stopped operation again last evening over a mechanical fault that the UNRA technicians were trying to correct by press time.

The Rwenzori East regional Spokesperson, ASP Nelson Tumusiime indicated on his social media platform that the operation of the ferry could temporary be halted for repairs for the next two days.

As Kasese Guide radio continues to update you, the ferry was deployed across the Kazinga channel to ease transport between Kasese and Rubirizi district as the bridge bed connecting two districts undergoes major repairs.

According to the engineers assigned the repairs on the bridge, they have up to September 30th 2021 to have been through with the work.

According to Uganda National Roads Authority, alternative routes have been provided, including, the Kampala-Mbarara-Ibanda-Kamwenge-Fortportal and Kasese and vice versa for those to and from the Capital city to Kasese district. END
