The Katonga faction of the Forum for Democratic Change party is considering a proposal to form a new political party.
If adopted, the faction led by, Dr. Kiiza Besigye will officially part ways with the faction headed by Patrick Amuriat, or what is known Najanankumbi faction.
The proposal is part of a report by Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago summarizing developments within the party after his election last year as the interim Party President.
Mr. Lukwago was presenting the report at the National Council meeting held at Col Kizza Besigye’s office on Katonga Road where he said that during their routine National Executive Committee meetings, some members suggested they should consider getting a new brand and move on with the vision of building a new Uganda with new institutions.
Lukwago also mentioned that there have also been calls for reconciliation from the Najanankumbi-based faction of the party.
Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Semujju is one of the members of the council who roundly rejected to reconciliation call, saying that their aim is not to rescue Najanankumbi but rather to rescue Uganda.

Dr. Kizza Besigye suggested that for any action, there is a need for the national council members to get down to the grassroots to explain to their members what happened following the fights at the Najanakumbi office. Dr. Besigye speaking…….
The Council resolved to postpone the initial 19th March Delegates Conference and provide delegates at least two months to travel across the country collecting feedback and ideas from other FDC members on which option to choose. END
