By Augustine Mumbere,
Members of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Kasese cluster have commended community members for supporting individuals displaced from disputed pieces of land, who are currently camping at the Resident District Commissioner’s office, with donations of food and non-food items.
Currently, over 1,000 people from various disputed areas across Kasese stormed the RDC’s office last week, expressing their disappointment over the government’s alleged delay in resolving land-related challenges in their communities.
In response, the FDC Kasese office launched an initiative to solicit both food and non-food items from well-wishers to support the affected families.
While addressing the media today at the party offices in Kasese town, Mr. Ronald Bwambale Kabuku, the FDC party chairperson, applauded community members for standing in solidarity with the displaced.
He confirmed that the party had successfully collected various donations to assist the victims though security did not allow them to distribute.
