Hon. Florence Kabugho Sekalombi, the Kasese district woman Member of Parliament has partly blamed ill-health among some members of community members to excessive application of chemicals, some of which have substituted the traditional use of hoes to maintain crops.
She was also concerned that the same practice in Uganda had badly hit the export of maize and beans to countries like Kenya and South Sunday, adding that this would affect revenue collection and the incomes of farmers in the country. Â
Addressing the locals during the launch of Bukonzo West women group at St. Kizito-Kithuthi primary school in Karambi Sub County in Kasese district over the weekend, Hon. Florence asked farmers to be selective in the agro-chemicals and pesticides they apply or else, the demand for their crops would remain low and lives left at total risk.
