The Congolese army has confirmed the death of Major Eric Kiraku Mwisa on the frontline while battling March 23 Movement rebels in Rutsuru territory.
Major Mwisa has been acting as security chief for Major General Peter Cirimwami, the commander of Sukola 2 operations in North Kivu.
In his statement issued yesterday, General Sylvain Ekenge Bomusa Efomi, the Spokesman for the North Kivu governor, says that the rebels shot Mwisa dead on Sunday evening in Musaga along Bunagana-Rutshuru road, less than 5 kilometers to Uganda-DR Congo border of Bunagana.
A Congolese security source told our reporter on condition of anonymity that during fighting on Sunday, two more FARDC soldiers were injured by gunshots and were rushed to Kisoro hospital in Uganda where they received treatment and were taken back. END
