By Joel Kaguta,
A section of National Resistance Movement (NRM) members in Bukonzo County East, Kasese District, have called for party cohesion as a strategy to win all political positions in 2026 general elections.
The members, who convened yesterday at Kisinga Town Council headquarters, expressed concern over the party’s continued loss of strategic positions to rival political parties, emphasizing the need to consolidate support and reclaim influence in the constituency that is always painted blue.
Eng. Samson Bagonza, the Engineer-in-Chief at the Ministry of Works and Transport, who also heads the NRM harmonization committee, emphasized that it is time for the party to reclaim the seat through intensive sensitization about government programs.
According to Eng. Bagonza, the constituency remains significantly disadvantaged, as key national decisions are often made in high-level forums without any representation from Bukonzo County East.

However, an opinion leader who spoke on condition of anonymity argued that several unfulfilled government pledges may have eroded public trust in the party. These include the long-promised upgrade of Kasese Airfield, the development of Lake Katwe Salt Factory, and the operationalization of the National Union of Youth Organizations (NUYO) institute in Maliba sub-county among others.
