Stray elephants from Murchison Falls National Park have reportedly invaded Buliisa General Hospital, destroying several properties, officials say.
Mr. Hannington Tibaijuka, the hospital’s health educator, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview yesterday, explained that the beasts first vandalized the hospital’s chain-link fence before accessing the premises, where they destroyed pawpaw and mango trees, among other vegetation.
Upon realizing the invasion, hospital authorities immediately contacted the Uganda Wildlife Authority which promptly intervened and drove the elephants back to the park. Mr. Tibaijuka speaking……
The attack on Buliisa Hospital comes barely a month after a woman was trampled to death by elephants in the same village. END
