Local leaders in Nyakatonzi Sub County have asked Uganda Wildlife Authority-UWA to compensate a twenty five year old man who reportedly died from Bwera hospital after being attacked by a suspected elephant in Rwehingo village in Nyakatonzi sub-county, Kasese district.
Hon. Hamu Natuhwera, the district councilor representing Nyakatonzi Sub County told Kasese guide radio that he has engaged UWA management to grieve with the family of now late Godwin Mumbere who was attacked with others as he went to fetch firewood from neighboring Queen Elizabeth National park.
Hon. Hamu who regretted the death of late Godwin said time was ripe for UWA to extend an electric wire in the area as they ponder on possible compensation to the affected family.

Hon Ham said the communities around the park would feel valued, especially on what is not being done right as well as paying attention to the impact the animals have created on economic gains on people around the parks. END.
