By Kyamanduma Patrick,
Tragedy struck last night in Nyakiyumbu sub-county in Kasese district when an elephant attacked and killed a 50 years old man in Kithathurwa Village.
No official comment yet from Police, but the Kasese District Vice chairperson, Mr. Ham Natuhwera confirmed the information and identified the deceased as, Mateso Joseph, a resident in the same area.
This attack is the latest in a series of wildlife-related incidents in Nyakiyumbu and Nyakatonzi sub-counties, with residents expressing frustration and fear.
Residents are urging the government to intervene, as the attacks have not only resulted in human casualties but also caused significant damage to crops, making it impossible for residents to access their gardens.
However, Ham said the district is in negotiations with Uganda Wildlife Authority-UWA to solve the Animal problem in the area.

Ham called for collaborated efforts to have the elephants chased away from people’s gardens despite government efforts of erecting an electric wire around the Queen Elizabeth National Park.
