Eddy Mutwe, the head of security for NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi was today produced at Masaka High Court under heavy security, a week after his alleged abduction by security operatives.
Limping, barefoot, and visibly in pain his condition triggered outrage from opposition leaders and renewed accusations of torture by security forces.
Mutwe was delivered in a grey saloon car shielded by plain clothes operatives who forcefully blockaded Journalists and expelled uniformed Police officers from the Court premises.
Witnesses say operatives formed a human wall to prevent any Photos or footage as Mutwe was escorted into the court room.
Shortly after NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi confirmed on social media that Mutwe had been remanded to Masaka Main Prison accused state operatives of torturing him.
Mutwe was presented before Masaka Grade One Magistrate Abdullah Kayiza, who read to him six counts of aggravated robbery, robbery and assault; offences he allegedly committed in May last year, at Manja village in Kisekka sub-county, Lwengo district during the burial of the UK-based businessman Pascal Ssekasamba.
Meanwhile, Magellan Kazibwe, a lawyer who represented Mutwe during the mention of his charges, indicates that as a legal team, they are going to seek court to allow the suspect to get appropriate medical care pending prosecution. Counsel Kazibwe speaking…..
