The House of Bishops sitting at the Provincial Secretariat in Namirembe has elected Rev. Canon Paul Hannington Suubi as the inaugural Bishop of East Busoga Diocese, the acting Provincial Secretary, Rev. Balaam Muheebwa has announced.
In an official communication yesterday, Rev Muheebwa said the House of Bishops sitting at the Provincial Secretariat at Namirembe yesterday elected Rev Canon Paul Hannington Suubi as the first Bishop of East Busoga Diocese, adding that the bishop-elect will be consecrated and enthroned on November 19, 2023, at the St. Stephen’s Pro-Cathedral in Bugiri district.
A devoted family man, Bishop-Elect Suubi is married to Dr. Margaret Stella Suubi, and their union has been blessed with three biological children.
The Diocese of East Busoga was established by separating it from Busoga Diocese due to years of management disputes and reported concerns about a lack of accountability, limited accessibility, and poor service delivery within the mother diocese that was founded in 1972. END
