Arua City Health Officer, Dr. Pontius Apangu, has advised persons living with HIV against the temptation of using herbal medicine instead of Anti-Retroviral Drugs.
The call comes at a time when the City is striving to lower further the prevalence of HIV, which stands at 4.4 percent, amid complaints that herbalists and some religious leaders are hampering the effort.
Judith Bako, the deputy Resident City Commissioner for Arua Central Division, noted that many persons living with HIV are being deceived into abandoning their ARVs by some religious leaders who claim that they can be healed through prayers. Ms. Judith speaking….
