By Kyamanduma Patrick,
Domestic Violence and poverty top the causes of teenage pregnancies and early marriages, the Kasese district Gender Focal person, Mrs. Queen-gonda Tugume Asimwe has said.
Speaking to our Reporter during the International day for the girl child yesterday, Ms. Queen-gonda told this radio that whereas early marriages and pregnancies have been forced by moral decadency among young girls, many young girls in need have been abused by those disguising to be of help, poverty and domestic violence.
She was quick to assert that domestic violence coupled with poverty cannot to give room for guidance and provision of basic needs to children by their parents. Ms. Queen speaking1…….
During the same interview at the Kasese district multipurpose hall yesterday, Ms Queen-gonda later called for a positive mindset against the perception by some poor cultural believers who place young girls and generally women only at the helm of marriage and not education and community service. She called for collaborated efforts against the abettors and promoters of defilement whom she said were not only a frustration to the girl child education but a source of disease and trauma to the future leaders. END.
