Local community members in Kasese Municipality have faulted law enforcement officers for wrongly implementing the law against loitering domestic animals in Kasese town.
Recently, the municipal council sourced for a contractor responsible for regulating and fining between 20.000 and 40.000 shillings per animal, the owners of the loitering domestic animals for purposes of promoting a clean, green and disease free town.
During a dialogue meeting between livestock owners and the municipal leadership at Mayor’s gardens this afternoon, local community members including; Mr. Tadeo Baguma, Ms Faith Mbambu and Mr. Amos Rujumba among others faulted Kasese Municipal council law enforcement officers for being discriminative and falsely rounding up animals while executing their duties, allegedly to earn money from the contractor. Responding to the claims, Mr. Zedekia Kayiri Kambasu, the Kasese Municipal Deputy town clerk said whereas his office was ready to iron out any operational mistakes among their staff, Kasese Municipality would continue enforcing the law against roaming domestic animals he said must not temper with the beauty of the town, safety of the local residents and visitors.
