At least 400 residents from various disputed areas in Kasese District are currently camping at the Mayor’s Garden in Kasese Municipality, expressing frustration over the government’s alleged delay in addressing longstanding land disputes.
The residents, who arrived at the RDC’s office yesterday, came from Nkoko, Ibuga, Kisanga villages in Kitswamba Sub-county, Kabukero in Karusandara, and Rwehingo Village in Nyakiyumbu Sub-county.
Land disputes in Kasese has persisted for years, often pitting cultivators against pastoralists, with tensions at times escalating into violence.
